Position Summary
Our Engineering personnel are highly competent professionals with impeccable communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Senior Network Engineer in one or more of the following: Transport DWDM, Switching and Routing, network design and operations, or service overlays (SD-WAN, E-VPN, VPLS, L3VPN, etc.). The Senior Network Engineer will handle the implementation of network design, services, and technologies. Responds to network change requests and identify optimal networking and communications solutions. DSN focuses first on the cohesiveness of its teams. To that end, the ideal candidate will be an effective and proactive communicator, which will enable them to provide the highest service levels and customer experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and directs operations and activities of the DSN network, including network design, network management tool administration, preparing reports, establishing budgets, comparing, and analyzing options, maintaining public relations, and managing assets
Maintain knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure technology, protocols, and standards
Prepare recommendations and supporting details of formal project proposals for network connectivity and configurations
Interact with internal and external teams to understand network requirements and prepare network changes for implementation
Regularly interact with telecom providers, equipment suppliers, and third-party network vendors to engage their technical resources to perform tasks
Communicate, manage, and implement technical solutions
Manage and assist in the deployment of the network to meet and exceed the Service- Level Agreements (SLA's) requirements and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards
Implement standards to accommodate growth
Create test plans, Methods of Procedures (MOP), documentation, and service configurations
Standardize, configure, and validate DSN network devices: routers, transport, Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, and Network Interface Devices (NID's)
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of the telecom industry, operations, technologies and must be skilled in communications. The combination of education and experience should be significant. This is a hybrid position requiring both remote and on- site work objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 7 years of experience or 10 + years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience
Experience required in coordination and implementation of technology projects.
Experience with Transport Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks
Experience with Routing and Switching
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Ciena Transport Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks
Experience with Juniper Routing and Switching
