Senior Network Engineer

Our work depends on a Senior Network Engineer joining our team who will assess and evaluate network architecture, infrastructure, and solutions for the Department of Education’s (ED) PIVOT program.

This role will design, document, test, implement, and maintain network services (i.e., VPN, DNS, NAC, DHCP, IPAM…) and review/recommend other PIVOT contractors’ network solutions to ensure the best integration across the ED environment. HOW A SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Job Responsibilities:Coordinates and collaborates with PIVOT-N to monitor, validate, and assist in troubleshooting the ED network.Provides recommendations on network changes and the provisioning process for circuits. Provides second-level problem identification, diagnosis and resolution. Supports the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Monitors network traffic through the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC).

Possesses a working knowledge (is desirable) in various software systems and architectures, communications protocols and network hardware devices.Serves as escalation point for complex issues from lower tier operations staff.Provides architecture, design, development, and implementation of layer 4 network services such as DNS, NAC, DHCP, VPN etc.Ensures all network services meet security compliance standards (STIGs, CISA guidelines, etc.)Provides technical solutions in the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters and servers.Evaluates existing network systems to ensure network capacity meets current and future network requirements.Analyzes customer requirements to determine optimal network solutions.Monitors network performance and troubleshoots and resolves complex problems to maintain operating efficiency and ensure quality transmission service on the network.
