Typical Day in the Life
The Senior Network Engineer installs, maintains and supports the Firm’s computer networks. Ensures reliable operation of data networks to provide maximum performance and availability for the network users.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, resolves, and communicates network issues to other employees and management.
- Installs, monitors and provides support for all network switches, wireless AP’s, routers, firewalls, and communication links.
- Installs branch office and datacenter network equipment across the organization following documented procedures.
- Analyzes and resolves network issues in a timely and accurate fashion and provide cross training where required.
- Creates and maintain network standards documentation for new site installations.
- Maintains assigned portion of the change management program and disaster recovery program.
- Maintains network IP addressing scheme.
- Manages projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
- Works on several projects simultaneously from design to implementation.
- Maintains accurate record of hardware and software deployments to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
- Provide Tier II support for the Help Desk.
- Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
- Ensures timely and accurate performance on assigned projects.
- Maintains compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- 5-7 years of experience in computer networking planning, maintenance and installation required.
- Experience with Microsoft products and Cisco hardware.
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP certifications a plus.
- Well-rounded knowledge of networking protocols, internet access methods, firewalls, gateways, routers, and switches, and wireless equipment
- Well-rounded knowledge of desktop and network operating systems.
- Ability to work under deadlines with heavy workloads where errors may cause substantial delay, expense, inefficiency and disruption of service to users.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, and a working knowledge of supported platforms and client business, technology advances, and security trends.
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
Physical Requirements
- Requires off-hour either remotely or by returning to work troubleshooting, installations, calls, etc.
- Requires extended hours during peak workloads or special projects and off-hour support.
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.
- Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, other office equipment, hand tools and equipment.
- Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
- Requires the ability to distinguish colors on network cables and connections.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires occasional out of town travel to Firm offices using a personal vehicle.
- Requires occasional work after hours and weekends.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship
