Job Description
HII Mission Technologies provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Federal Civilian, Defense, and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.
US Postal Service (USPS) Engineering Department in Merrifield, VA (hybrid remote) has a position available in the Network Communication Group. The successful candidate will join a team of Network Engineers responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the USPS Mail Processing Network Infrastructure at the national level and individual postal processing facilities.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide design and ongoing support of local area networks and wide area networks used in mail processing applications.
- Plan, design, build, configure, test, document, and implement both a physical and logical network infrastructure.
- Configure routers and switches, with appropriate network communications protocols, and their implementation via network hardware and software.
- Provide Tier 3 help desk support for resolving complex network problems involving multiple applications and organizations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a USPS Sensitive Clearance
- Must have Network Architecture/Design knowledge
- Familiarity with all layers of OSI model and network communication protocols and working knowledge of Cisco hardware.
- At least 5 years hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches and routers.
- Ability to solve complex problems involving networks and application systems.
- Ability to create network architecture solutions for new applications based on user requirements.
- Experience with SolarWinds products and Sniffer software.
- Ability to create technical documentation such as statement of work, technical presentations, and after action support reports.
- Help Desk experience at the Tier 3 level.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Requirements
- CCNA or better certification
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating systems including basic administration, communications and networking configurations.
- Experience working in a virtualized environment
- Knowledge of network traffic load balancing concepts
- Experience with either Windows or Linux based scripting languages. (PowerShell/VBS or Python/Perl/Ruby/Bash)
