Job Summary
The incumbent leads Product Development, strategy, and redesign from concept through development and production to market launch. Leads development of market relevant products and services which may include training offerings, software and other value-add products built around IEEE standards, open source and in other areas of strategic interest. This includes development of licensable training IP, designing and delivering of in-person, hybrid, and virtual training in commercial quality fashion.
In this capacity, this role will work across the department to coordinate, deliver, and recognize revenue globally. The incumbent will have experience in conducting market research, developing marketing strategies, developing time integrated plans for product introduction, delivering commercialized training and IP development and delivery. The candidate will have proven ability to deliver relevant approaches, systems, apps, tools, and associated training means through an integrated portfolio approach.
The candidate determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information, obtains product market share by working with sales director to develop product sales strategies.
This position is responsible for delivering the IEEE Standards Association's (SA) product portfolio resulting in growth and success. This is inclusive of defining the product strategy, leading the Product Development roadmap and resources, and overseeing future initiatives to ensure growth and diversification of the portfolio of offerings. In this cross-functional role, the individual is expected to collaborate with key volunteer and staff stakeholders within the IEEE SA and across IEEE to translate product needs into requirements, drive consensus, and ensure that consumer satisfaction goals are met
This role will be based in the US and reports to Director, SA Business Development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and landscape assessments to develop business cases to assist Product Development decisions
  • Leads Product Development, strategy, and redesign from concept through development and production to market launch.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and Product Development programs, preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing time schedules with sales and marketing
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume, and costing special and customized orders
  • Develop products ranging from idea inception through full deployment including market analysis and product delivery
  • Maintain overarching product portfolio roadmap, consistent with IEEE SA and IEEE strategies and policies, as driving the business direction. This includes assisting in strategic Product Development as part of the portfolio development and growth
  • Develop personnel credentialing models and badging systems that provide continued trust for participants
  • Measures will include: all new inside and outside sales support, including field readiness training, re-work, enrollment, classroom training (including curriculum development, delivery, and testing/certification)
  • Works with marketing and sales departments to ensure product success and market growth
  • Recruits, trains, and manages product team by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Identifies and manages new and existing product partnerships
  • Support New Product launch, including pre-launch e-learning modules, tools and sales-readiness exercises, live courses and full launch meeting planning and execution (in a variety of methods ranging from e-learning to live meeting)
  • Provide technical and logistics support in pre-sales activities
  • Initiate and lead the marketing engagement process leading to sales with known organizations
  • Enhance the existing product(s) catering to the customer needs
  • Develop and deliver pertinent material that will improve the way we sell and market products in specific markets
  • Identifying needs, developing curriculum (and logistics) and delivering material to a vast audience including senior level executives
  • Master at translating technical materials into consumable and engaging revenue generating / licensable training
  • Strategizing promotions and marketing for enhancing the visibility & sales of the IEEE SA training courses
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req
  • Master's or other advanced degree Pref
Work Experience
  • 10-15 years Working in Product Development, customer & volunteer engagements, managing LMS platforms, vendor management Req
  • 7-10 years working within a highly matrixed organization partnering across multiple businesses and stakeholders Req
  • 4-7 years developing and executing on complex product strategy Req
