We are currently searching for a highly motivated, results-focused Senior Manager, Marketing Operations. In this role, you will play a critical role in Lexicon’s Marketing team while demonstrating our corporate values of Integrity, Innovation, Respect, Transparency, and Ownership. This role will be based out of Lexicon’s Bridgewater, NJ location or can be based remotely.
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Marketing Operations will establish and manage the support infrastructure for Marketers and Brand team and other stakeholders as needed. This function will support and orchestrate all Marketing / Brand Management operational and executional capabilities including people, processes, and systems required to support the launch of Lexicon’s products within the US. A successful candidate will have in-depth Marketing Operations expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to closely collaborate with cross-functional leaders including Sales, Training, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Legal/Compliance, IT, Human Resources, and other relevant stakeholders. In addition, they will need to manage and work well with vendors.
This position will report to the VP, Marketing. This position will collaborate with the marketing team to compliantly develop and implement commercial marketing tactics in support of product launches and ongoing business operations. This position will provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of core Marketing Operations activities and has a unique opportunity to lead the build out of the Operations function. The right candidate is entrepreneurial, both strategic and execution-oriented, collaborative, and proactive in identifying risks and opportunities. Key Responsibilities:
Speaker Program Management:
- Assume accountability for speaker bureau vendor management, including operations, and program logistics
- Partner with the US Commercial brand teams and speaker leads to develop relationships to support the execution of speaker programs in line with the brand strategy
- Develop and deliver regular communications with the brand teams, including reports reflecting their respective speaker program activity, spend, and achievement of objectives
- Lead planning and development of annual speaker bureau training seminars
- Partner with Compliance team to ensure adherence to relevant policies, appropriate handling of any exceptions, and accurate reporting of Transparency data
HCP Events Management:
- Coordinate and manage regional conferences, tradeshows, and national congresses working with Events Management team.
Promotional Review Committee (PMRC) Management:
- Manage all aspects of the promotional material review process to ensure content and design are appropriate, accurate and consistent with all applicable regulations, laws, and Lexicon SOPs
- Oversee regular promotional material review planning meetings to manage timely submissions and prioritization of agendas to meet business needs
- Manage external stakeholders, including contract PRC Coordinator(s), to ensure that they’re adequately trained and appropriately follow all applicable policies, processes, and best practices
- Conduct periodic system and process audit to ensure compliance with Lexicon policies and SOPs
Promotional Materials Management:
- Manage print + fulfillment process including distribution of all digital and print promotional materials and release / update / expiry of materials via Promo Mats or other production fulfillment service
- Experience with working with Veeva CRM team and agencies on loading digital content – approved emails and/or CLM content.
- Oversee and manage relationship with promotional materials print vendor
General Marketing / Commercial Support:
- Serve as primary point of contact and process owner for any internal or external audits of systems or Marketing Operations processes
- Assist the Lexicon Marketing team with day-to-day activities, including budget and contract management activities
- Participate as a core member of the Marketing team and support ad-hoc projects, as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree required; MBA preferred
- 7+ years of experience in Marketing or a related Commercial function in the pharma/biotech industry; creative agency experience will be considered. Cardiovascular and/or neurology experience is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, planning, and presentation skills are required. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects
- You easily adapt to change, are flexible in your approach and have a keen ability to solve problems proactively
- You are highly analytical and can analyze and interpret data from multiple sources
- Strong ability to partner across functions and build successful relationships with functional leaders
- Experience managing external vendors required
- Previous experience working on the Cardiovascular therapeutic area and also working with a small biopharmaceutical company
- Experience with Veeva CRM (Samples/CLM/Approved Emails), Promo Mats and Veeva Vault strongly preferred.
- Experience working with an external speaker bureau strongly preferred
- Experience in meetings management, sourcing, or procurement preferred
- Meaningful experience tactically executing a brand strategy is a plus
- Experience is start up-biotech and Cardiovascular a plus
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of current data management, field facing technology tools, practices and systems (i.e., CRM)
- Good understanding of regulatory and legal requirements of pharmaceutical Marketing Operations
- Solid budget planning and budget management acumen
- Highly skilled in influencing cross-functional teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and with sales and marketing teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills, confident executive presence, and ability to communicate with and influence the Commercial Leadership Team
- Strong vendor management skills
- Ability to travel up to 10%
