Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager IT, Application Development position will lead a development team focused on defining and building innovative tools supporting Training Scheduling teams for the Flight Training Center. The position will also be responsible for the development and maintenance support of the applications once in production. This position will collaborate extensively with our business partners to design, develop, and integrate user interfaces and services that meets the business needs.
This role will build new applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use groundbreaking technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily and will be relied upon to help take the team to the next level. This role demands a strong innovative leader who can oversee budgets, deliverables, development metrics and resource planning. This position will collaborate extensively with Training Scheduling (at the Flight Training Center), Pilot Records team, UA Digital Technology, including Product, Architecture, PlatformOps and EQA.

Training Scheduling Application Development Roadmap Deliver

• Lead activities to focus on defining the tools with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions to support the Training Scheduling needs
• Collaborate with product and architecture teams to design, develop, deploy and support new Training Scheduling applications
• Oversee and lead new Application Development projects to ensure delivery of work requests and projects are within committed budget, on schedule, and the quality of individual projects meets the overall program performance goals
• Manage development and application KPIs, take corrective actions where necessary proper documentation of applications and implement continuous improvements

Development Standards, Tools & Architecture

• Ensure IT Application Development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed
• Play a key role in formulating and following the procedures and processes for development
• Play a key role with the formation of agile delivery teams for development and technology delivery
• Create a team structure and process for quality control during development, testing for debugging code and deployment
• Remain informed of new technologies and/or business processes and incorporating those technologies to improve the productivity of the applications staff and software systems' maintainability
• Drive continuous improvement and be adaptable to changing designs and to adding performance enhancements

Leadership

• Lead a multi-functional impactful team responsible for designing, developing, and maintains cloud-based Training Scheduling applications.
• Manage vendor development teams assigned to projects and core support
• Foster professional development and energy in the team
• Establish department and individual goals
• Assess and recommend improvements to the organization structure, roles and responsibilities
• Participate actively in future strategy, goals, objectives, and operational performance
• Create and maintain a high performance by interacting and mentoring junior and senior level developers
• Perform short and long term resources planning to ensure the proper number of resources and right skills are available to meet project goals and schedules
• Use creative and proactive leadership skills to address project challenges and opportunities

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree
• Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or other related field
• 7+ years of related work experience
• 5+ years of Application Development and/or data engineering development
• 5+ years of experience working within Agile project management frameworks
• Cloud experience
• Leading and managing advanced Application Development teams. Strong project organizations skill, including prioritization, planning and development.
• At least 2-4 years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

• Master's degree or 6 years of relevant work experience
• Computer Science, Information Systems or another related field
• Airline applications background specifically Passenger Service Systems
• Experience in large application modernization projects
• AWS disciplines, Agile methodologies, SAFe Agile Certification
• Airline applications background specifically Scheduling, Training or Pilot Records and Qualifications preferred but not required.
• Experience in large Application Development and modernization projects
• Knowledge of AWS, Java, Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft NET Core, SQL, NoSQL and Design Patterns
• Java, .NET and AWS highly preferred
