Job Summary
The Senior Manager - Government Affairs will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Government Affairs team and internal staff to guide, support and implement Nissan's corporate priorities on current business and emerging issues. The Government AffairsSenior Manager is expected to have a working knowledge of federal/state legislative processes and will help educate and inform key internal stakeholders of legislative issues affecting our business. This position will also help represent Nissan on the federal levels of government for legislative matters at all instances required. S/he will is responsible to build and maintain key relationships with elected officials and work cross -functionally to understand key stakeholders work internally in their priorities and compliance related to issues affecting the company.

Job Functions
Assist with development and execution of political and legislative communications strategy Represent company on matters of importance to the company in Congress and industry associations Leverage and maintain strong relationships with elected officials and government agencies Analyze current and proposed legislation to determine their impact on the business Build and cultivate positive relationships with elected and appointed federal officials and industry associations Help direct outside government relations consultants in development and deployment of strategies to influence policy outcomes Support activities by engaging with relevant trade associations include Autos Drive America, Auto Innovators, National Association of Manufacturers, US Chamber and others to help influence policy and positions; Additionally, monitor, track, report on federal grants, government/industry coalitions, meetings, etc. internally Collaborate with other members of Government Affairs team to assure full coverage and knowledge of cross functional issues Engage regularly with internal responsible departments to maintain an understanding of Nissan's future corporate strategy and developing business Identify policy trends and provide legislative activity/updates to diverse internal Nissan stakeholders Assist with detection of risks and opportunities based on the potential intersection of current policy trends and existing/future corporate plans
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualification statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant.
1. Experience:
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of proven enterprise experience in Government Affairs.
  • Ideal candidate would background 10+ years' experience in a legislative staff or lobbying staff on the federal level; familiarity with trade associations and ability to support legislative (relationship) matters.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to external and internal stakeholders at leadership roles.

2. Education:
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred

  • Low to Moderate travel to regional HQ or other locations

  • Position allows for significant opportunity to work remotely.

  • Candidate should be comfortable working with minimum oversight on a large portion of issues and engaging directly with company executives and elected officials.
