Summary:
The Senior Maintenance Manager plans, oversees, and coordinates activities with development, design, construction, and modification of equipment, production lines and facility. Oversees installation, modifications, quality control testing, operating procedure, inspection processes adhering to engineering principles and safety regulations. Prepares bid sheets and contract specifications Tests newly installed equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.
As Senior Maintenance Manager, your twofold mission is to: (1) Direct Maintenance, Supervisors, and Technicians to effectively maintain equipment and plant buildings and coordinate requirements for new designs, surveys, and maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery. (2) Introduce your ideas for innovation and improvement into our systems and processes to enhance our performance indicators. To be a good fit for this position, you'll bring solid technical capability, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) program knowledge, along with extensive P&L (Profit and Loss) expertise and ability to manage capital projects as you galvanize the team to meet our production targets and motivate and focus the team on a shared vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages the Maintenance Program
- Actively manage the oversite and coordination of all maintenance program processes and duties.
- Develop and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance, spare parts inventory program and critical parts requirements for both facilities. Control down-time trending by equipment and frequency.
- Manage Wastewater system serving as a liaison with local authorities to ensure wastewater discharge and BODs (Biological Oxygen Demand) are within agreed upon limits.
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve machines and plant equipment to maximize efficiency.
- Maintain fire system and fire prevention program.
- Ensure required licenses and permits are obtained and maintained to include air, water, fire, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Production, Human Resource, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Finance to meet production targets.
- Proactively schedule projects, preventative maintenance, and all foreseeable downtime to minimize business and staffing impacts.
- Observe and ensure the food safety process is followed during maintenance in food production areas.
- Provide employee coaching and development. Resolve employee issues.
- Facilitates coordination between maintenance and operations in solving process issues.
- Partner with General Manager on use of capital assets, equipment modifications, and process improvements.
- Manage maintenance parts procurement and budget.
- Member of the “Lean” Steering Committee
- Prepare narratives on capital expense requests.
- Act as project manager for all equipment capital projects, ensuring completion within budget and deadlines.
- Complete all capital projects on time and within budget.
- Maximize maintenance team utilization to reduce costs of vendors and outside contractors.
- Support the Westport Martec 3 year expansion project.
- Manage maintenance budgets for both locations.
- Model a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Showcase flexibility and dedication to get the job done right.
- Plan, develop and implement departmental expectations.
- Serves as safety model; promote a high level of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Provide team member coaching and ongoing development.
- Manage department cohesiveness and alignment, resolving team member issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required
- Must possess one or more of the following: vocational school certification, bachelor’s degree, or minimum 5 to 7 years maintenance experience.
- Valid Drivers License
- Exceptional mechanical skills/aptitude – excellent math skills - basic computer skills –
- Experience with PC and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) driven components.
- Ability to successfully troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment to component level.
- Knowledge of motor control wiring, running conduit and pulling wire
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical/pneumatic schematics
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and electronic preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment according to schedule.
- Electrical enclosure (panel) layout and design
- Ability to travel up to 50% between home facility and other processing facilities or work sites.
- Ability to being on-call at night and weekends as projects and workload requires.
- Knowledge of Steam Boilers with ability to troubleshoot, install, and repair related plumbing, a plus.
- Basic welding & fabrication experience a plus.
