JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

If you enjoy taking part in legal administrative and clerical support under unique and complex circumstances and can type at a speed of 45 words per minute, the Senior Legal Typist (SLT) position with the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) may be for you.

DWC within the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims and provides services to assist in resolving disputes with claims for workers' compensation benefits. DWC is looking for an effective communicator willing to prepare correspondence independently. The SLT will review and process legal documents such as case openings, pleadings, and other correspondence. The SLT will also assist parties and litigants with inquiries and updates in person, by telephone, or email.

Additionally, the SLT will transcribe dictation from a dictating machine for reports, decisions, or orders. This position has flexibility to telework and is expected to report to the office 3 days a week.

Our office and court is conveniently located within one to two blocks of Starbucks and most national restaurant chains. We are directly across the street from the Northridge Mall's food court and a retail shopping center. We have close and easy access to highway 101 and we are 25 minutes from the ocean/coast Monterey Bay. Telework available two (2) days per week. The SLT works in a smoke-free DWC Office with controlled temperature and quiet to moderate noise levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $3,478.00 - $4,863.00 per month
