Lauren Collander Interiors is a luxury interior design firm with studios in Naperville, Chicago, and Lake Forest, Illinois, specializing in luxury design. Our projects range from new construction homes, large renovations, full home furnishings, and boutique commercial projects.
We are seeking a Senior Interior Designer with mastery in residential interior architectural design and furnishing design. This position will focus primarily on the Interior Design of new construction and residential renovation projects and will include FF&E of all spaces. New hire can choose to work out of our Naperville, Chicago, or Lake Forest studios.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. GENERAL

2. CLIENT/VENDOR Relations
- Active engagement with clients via multiple channels of communication. You will be the primary contact during their project.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to professionally present your design opinion/direction based on the needs and expectations of the client
- Ability to cultivate a relationship of trust with the client. Provide confidence and support in order to guide them through the design process.
- Experience communicating and coordinating with architects, builders, vendors, and fabricators
- Represent the firm in the world with positivity and kindness
3. TECHNICAL Proficiencies
- Extensive knowledge of all phases of design, with the ability to navigate a project with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate design intent via visual presentations, sketches, computer-aided technical drawings, material samples, and FF&E specifications.
- Working knowledge of luxury furnishings & architectural materials
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations for design and construction where applicable
- Produce all drawings and finish schedules to a design intent package level.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing the construction phase with clear communication and attentiveness with the construction team
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D programs (Sketchup or Chief), Microsoft Office, and file management programs. Knowledge of Ivy is a plus
- Ability to understand human behavior and apply such in the creation of functional spaces
- Capability to prepare and work within a budget
- Ability to review technical drawings from vendors, redlining, and working through the approval process.

- Manage delivery team and provide direction on furniture installation days.
- Attend site visits for construction review and coordination with contractors.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Interior Design
- 8+ years design experience at a residential interior design firm
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Must have the ability to transport oneself to job sites within the Chicagoland area
- Ability to lift 15-20 lbs – small furniture items, accessories, art, etc
