GBFB is considered an essential response organization in times of disaster. As such, Team Members are expected to report to GBFB locations as required, after securing the safety of their families, and may be asked to perform duties that are critical (but outside of their regularly assigned duties) in times of disaster.

Position Summary:

The Senior Human Resources Generalist works under the direction and in partnership with the Vice President of Human Resources, and is responsible for communicating Human Resource policies, programs, and processes in support of GBFB team member’s needs. Provides services in recruiting/selection, team member complaint investigation/response, performance management, pay administration actions/transfers, job description development and career pathing. Works closely with the Human Resources Team to develop and implement a positive work culture by building programs, employee appreciation/recognition, member safety, workers compensation/leave administration and proactive member communications. Provides guidance to team members on GBFB Human Resources policies, Federal, State, and Local Laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a first point of contact for all team members and maintains a strong presence and engagement, including accepting diversity of ideas and thoughts, sharing responsibility for success, demonstrating honesty and integrity, interpret GBFB policies and procedures, and helping team members/supervisors solve problems.
  • Work in collaboration with the Vice President of Human Resources to resolve employee relations (ER) issues. Conducts ER investigations, counsels, and assists in resolving workplace disputes, provides guidance to supervisors and employees concerning work-related problems, and conducts exit interviews.
  • Serves as a leave of absence administrator and subject matter expert and provides guidance on all FMLA, PFMLA, and ADA requests according to Federal, State, and Local Laws.
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager in conducting new hire orientation, ensure new hires are aware of their orientation schedule, and have completed all required onboarding tasks, including ensuring all new hires possess a satisfactory background check, pre-employment drug screening, if applicable completion of all new hire paperwork to successfully meet their identified start date.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of effective training and development programs to meet SOP requirements, skill proficiency and development needs for individuals and departments.
  • Perform full cycle recruitment and selection process of top talent in all departments as needed. Activities may include, but are not limited to: position posting, interviewing, screening, Predictive Index (PI), pay recommendations and hire recommendations. Actively utilizing and managing GBFB’s various recruiting tools including applicant tracking systems and on-line recruiting systems.
  • Assist with the organization's performance management process by coaching, educating, and providing feedback to managers/supervisors.
  • Assist the Human Resources Team by cultivating and maintaining a fair rewards and recognition program where employees feel valued and appreciated.
  • Performs other assignments as directed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A minimum of five years of related HR experience and a bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service, organizational, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality; high level of attention to detail; willingness to take initiative, research answers and resolve problems proactively.
  • Must possess good judgement, flexibility, and ability to interact effectively with people from different backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, ATS, HRIS, EE benefit portals; background-check applications ADP required.

This role follows a hybrid schedule working in accordance with GBFB’s hybrid work policy. Our in-office time is used primarily for team meetings and formal and informal collaboration necessary to foster and support a positive work culture. This schedule is subject to change based on the organization’s mission to end hunger.
