The Enrollment Marketing and Communications team at Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer who will play a crucial role in conceptualizing and executing visual designs that support our College's enrollment and communication goals.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications, the Senior Graphic Designer will serve as a key member of Teachers College, Columbia University’s Enrollment Marketing and Communications team. The incumbent will provide direction, design, and feedback on TC’s enrollment marketing and communications materials. The Senior Graphic Designer will assist in recruiting prospective students and see them through to enrollment, through innovative and high-quality design across media.
The successful candidate will think strategically, collaboratively, and creatively to provide creative services that ensure TC is effectively positioned to achieve its enrollment goals.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and produce marketing materials that promote Teachers College to prospective students across print, digital, web, email, and other platforms.
- Create visually appealing media that effectively communicate the unique value propositions of the College.
- Pitch designs for and produce digital advertising and paid media assets, based on current best practices, design trends, and platform specifications
- Produce promotional items, presentations, and brochures for stakeholders in Enrollment Management and/or TC’s academic departments
- Ensure consistency in branding and visual identity across all enrollment marketing materials
- Manage and implement the College’s central brand standards
- Identify the most commonly used materials and develop brand-aligned templates
- Train EM units on brand compliance, as needed
Collaboration/Production Oversight
- Commission or produce original assets as needed (illustration, animation, etc.), provide creative feedback, and manage vendors for production
- Plan and oversee photo and video shoots, retouch photos, and organize photo, video and design files to make accessing them efficient and intuitive
- Manage vendors and freelancers responsible for producing marketing materials on time and on budget

Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 or 4-year degree from an accredited college or university
- 4+ years of professional experience, preferably in-house or with nonprofit, higher ed, or agency clients
- Experience adhering to and creatively implementing brand standards
- Ability to take and apply feedback
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Experience making templates for implementation by others
- Experience designing for paid media, including advertising creative
- Extensive experience liaising with and managing external vendors for printing, producing promotional items, photoshoots, and mailing
- Established record of collaboration and good interpersonal and communication skills with diverse internal and external constituents
- Attention to and knowledge of trademark, copyright, and accessibility standards
- Ability to design a comprehensive set of assets at scale and with attention to detail
- Ability to produce and follow creative briefs to meet specific project needs, and to manage complex creative projects
- Must possess effective communication and presentation skills
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or familiarity with multiple modes of art and design, including photography, illustration, UX, video, and/or motion graphics
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere
- Ability to use AI tools ethically and consciously to improve efficiencies in the design process
- Experience making data-driven creative decisions through A/B testing, UX testing, and market research
Salary Range:
$80,000 - $85,000
