About UFW Foundation: For 17 years, the UFW Foundation has mobilized farm workers and their organizations across the country to advocate for more equitable policies, such as immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards, hazard pay and other worker protections. We engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while also providing critical services. In fact, the UFW Foundation is the largest federally accredited immigration legal service provider in the state of California. The organization has staff in California, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Maryland.
SUMMARY: The UFW Foundation is seeking a full-time Senior Grant Writer. The Senior Grant Writer will (1) prospect and write grant proposals to support the organization’s annual operations and program development; and (2) seek to increase and diversify grant funding support for the organization in order to strengthen the expansion of services and programs. This position reports to the Senior Grants and Program Evaluation Director. This is a US-based remote position that will be required to accommodate minimal travel for meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not exhaustive):
- Leads prospecting and writes compelling letters of interest for government, corporate and philanthropic foundations.
- Flexible and willing to balance the many challenges and tasks that arise in a fast-paced, changing, and growing organization.
- Gains and maintains familiarity with past and current funded proposals and with all organization funding opportunities.
- Works with other team members in research as needed.
- Relates well to the cultural and ethnic characteristics of the UFW Foundation community.
- Identifies directly aligned funder affinity priority areas as well as intersectional funding initiatives and enters all prospect information into our database with accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Works with program staff and executive team to collect the most accurate and up-to-date information on the organization’s programs.
