Senior Geographic Information Systems Technician - Street Transportation Department

The Street Transportation Department has a vacancy for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) position. This role is integral to the Street Transportation Department's programming, project delivery, traffic services, and maintenance workflows. While much of the work for a Sr. GIS Technician can be done independently, the work is almost always part of a larger GIS deliverable project. Successful candidates will have a willingness to learn from senior members, assist and support other GIS Technicians, and perform well as a member of the team. This role is responsible for providing technical support to the GIS Technicians, performing QAQC, as well as researching and inputting Stormwater infrastructure.
Duties include:

• Create and update feature classes.
• Convert paper and digital data to GIS.
• Create accurate custom maps for customers.
• Assist in QA/QC of technicians work to ensure accuracy.
• Work with customers to provide data and respond to questions about Stormwater infrastructure.
• Research and interpret construction plans for information relevant to stormwater infrastructure.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Ability to read and interpret engineering, As-Builts, and CIP plans.
• Ability to effectively communicate GIS related functions with end-users or staff.
• Proficient with GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Online.

SALARY
Pay Range: $26.18 to $47.01 per hour.
Hiring Range: $26.18 to $38.68 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• OR Two years at a technical or vocational school.
• And two years of experience working with Geographic Information Systems.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• Experience with a utility or geometric network.
• Experience with stormwater, water, or utility infrastructures.
• Experience with a versioned SDE database environment.
• Experience creating maps using the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop/Pro program.
• Experience providing Quality Assurance and Quality Control oversite of technician's work.
