This is a contract postion:
- Location: needs to be local to Pennington, NJ
- Duration: 1+ Years
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on laboratory facilities maintenance experience, preferably in Biopharmaceuticals, with maintenance coordination experience. Previous HVAC experience is helpful.
Scope:
Our client is in search of a Facilities Maintenance Contractor who can support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) initiatives, troubleshoot maintenance issues, and carry out preventative maintenance procedures on various laboratory equipment, controlled temperature units, and other assigned facilities and laboratory equipment. The role would also include assisting with facility upkeep and maintaining a clean work environment throughout the facility by performing corrective maintenance to address equipment or facility issues.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly emergency generator testing.
- Conduct daily checks of house gas systems.
- Serve as a member of the site's emergency response team.
- Coordinate with third-party contractors when required.
- Coordinate and engage third-party services for necessary service calls.
- Conduct monthly inspections of eye wash stations and safety showers.
- Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
- Interface with landlord representatives to resolve facility issues.
- Keep management informed of equipment and facilities issues.
- Conduct facility maintenance activities such as spackling, painting, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work.
- Test emergency lighting and exit signs on a monthly basis.
- Handle regulated medical waste by transporting full containers from lab spaces to the waste handling area and providing empty containers as needed. Schedule disposal with waste contractors.
- Manage hazardous waste coordination by transporting full containers from lab spaces and providing empty containers as needed. Schedule disposal with waste contractors.
- Cross-train as a warehouse operator to provide backup support as needed.
- Cross-train warehouse staff on maintenance procedures to serve as a backup to the Senior Facilities Mechanic.
- Operate a forklift as needed.
Requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively within established guidelines.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment, able to work with minimal direction, and adjust workload based on changing priorities.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
- Familiarity or experience with Building Automation and Environmental Monitoring systems would be beneficial.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
