DEFINITION: Under direction, plans, leads, assigns, schedules, and participates in the work of staff responsible for opening and closing various District facilities and for performing a variety of clerical and customer service duties including cashiering, data entry, and record keeping; moves furniture and equipment to set up for classes, activities, and functions; interacts with and provides basic information and assistance to the public; performs light custodial work; and performs related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives direction from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises technical and functional direction over lower-level program support staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS: This is the advanced-journey level classification in the Facilities Attendant series responsible for the more difficult work assigned to the series and for providing technical and functional direction over lower-level Facilities Attendants. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

- Provides technical and functional direction to assigned Facilities Attendants; reviews and controls quality of work.
- Plans, schedules, prioritizes, and assigns work in consultation with supervisory staff; coordinates, schedules, and oversees activities; instructs staff in work procedures.
- Trains employees in work methods, quality standards, and relevant safety precautions.
- Provides assistance to supervisory staff in the day-to-day oversight of assigned facility; receives and responds to questions, concerns, and complaints from patrons; determines issues and resolves, or refers to supervisor as appropriate; listens and responds to patrons’ need for assistance or information related to facility or district operations and activities.
- Welcomes patrons, visitors, and the community to District facilities; conducts facility tours; and provides information related to District facilities, programs, services and activities.
- Provides operational support during special events; prepares facilities for event use; moves, sets up, and takes down furniture and equipment.
- Assists groups using facilities as requested; explains and enforces facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Monitors the proper and safe use of program facilities by the general public and ensures adherence to rules and policies.
- Provides staff support at special events and festivals.
- Provides information about District programs, services, activities, and events to the public.
- Makes reservations and registers participants for programs and classes; receives program and reservation fees and requests; balances cash and receipts at the end of each business day.
- Removes trash in and around buildings; performs light cleaning and custodial duties of facility rooms.
- Follows maintenance schedule and performs cleaning, preventative maintenance and minor maintenance and adjustments on equipment, facilities, and buildings, including replacing light bulbs, and cleaning restrooms and furniture.
- Inspects facilities and recommends maintenance and repair as needed.
- Maintains accurate schedule and records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
- Observes and ensures compliance with District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
