The Facility Attendant, under general supervision, provides core support to Parks and Recreation facilities; which includes safely performing essential janitorial tasks, room set-ups and breakdowns of a variety of equipment, and fundamental maintenance tasks. This position must have the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and appropriately orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and the general public. While working in a variety of settings at the Diamond Bar Center or Heritage and Pantera Parks, the Facility Attendant will also support other Parks and Recreation programs, including but not limited to Senior programs, City and private special events, recreation classes, etc. Other duties as assigned to maintain the operations of the facility and City programs.
The Facility Attendant helps to set the stage for some of the most important events in people's lives. Whether it's a wedding, quinceañera or retirement party, the Facility Attendant helps make sure that event is set up just right for that special day.
More specifically, the Facility Attendantis responsible for the efficient preparation and tear down of equipment at City buildings and facilities such as the Diamond Bar Center; monitors the operation and public activity during hours of operation; assists in the operation, set-up, and/or breakdown of special events; performs janitorial and maintenance duties; inspects facilities and adjacent areas for potential hazards and unsafe conditions; ensures facilities are secure upon closing; must work well with the public; must work well independently and as a collaborative member of a team; serves as a front line contact for enforcement of City policies and codes in public facilities; maintains security of facilities per City standards; will be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays; and performs other duties as assigned. Education: Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
Experience: One (1) year of verifiable paid experience in working with the public in the areas of facility maintenance, janitorial services, event set up, recreation or a closely related field.
Licenses and/or Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C or Class 3 California driver's license and an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.
Special Requirements: Ability to travel to different sites and locations. This position does not receive any benefits except 40 hours of paid sick leave as required by AB 1522. This position may average up to 19 hours/week or less and no more than 999 hours in a twelve (12) month period.
