QUALIFICATIONS
· BA/BS/MA/MS in environmental studies, environmental science, geography, environmental planning, environmental policy, natural science, public planning, or a related interdisciplinary field.
· Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience conducting research and preparing CEQA and/or NEPA environmental compliance evaluations and assessments.
· Knowledge of the federal, State (California), and local plans, policies and regulations governing natural resources in California, especially related to CEQA, NEPA, and environmental permit compliance.
· Interest/experience in coordinating task or project delivery schedules, preparing proposals, and assisting with invoicing and budget tracking.
· Formal training in geospatial information technology (GIS) and knowledge in its application to environmental planning. Ability to provide GIS training to team members.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
· Ability to work as a team member and proactively identify and contribute constructively to address broad project or team issues.
· Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the planning and authoring of CEQA/NEPA compliance and related environmental documents for a wide range of projects including private sector residential, commercial, and industrial development; public plans and programs; water/wastewater, storm water, and energy/utilities facilities; transportation infrastructure; educational facilities; and parks and recreation facilities.
Coordinate tasks of in-house planners, biologists, and archaeologists including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback while working on projects together.
Collaborate closely with civil engineers specializing in infrastructure planning and design, and coordinate impact study scope development with responsible government agency staff. Lead interaction with technical specialists and subconsultants as well as clients and permitting agencies.
Assist with administrative/business development tasks including preparing cost estimates and proposals, tracking budgets, reviewing invoices, and participating in interviews.
The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while working on a team and independently. This candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships among team members, staff, clients, and responsible agencies.
