TRC is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner/Scientist to join it's highly successful Planning, Permitting, and Licensing (PPL) practice in Northern California. The successful candidate will bring 2-7 years of professional consulting experience providing planning, permitting, and licensing support to public and private sector clients in California.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities of this client facing position will include line management of scopes, schedules, and permit acquisition for a variety of project types including energy infrastructure, land use development, transportation infrastructure, and other project types as may be directed.
- Working collaboratively with client land planners, project managers, environmental staff, and engineers to identify Project permitting, environmental, and scheduling needs early in the planning process.
- Provide support for compliance documents under CEQA, NEPA, such as Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, as well as, Proponent's Environmental Assessments.
- The role will also require managing tasks and projects, mentoring of junior staff, and representing TRC at industry functions.
Requirements
- Excellent analytical reasoning skills, technical writing and communication skills, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite.
- The ability to maintain a positive attitude during potentially demanding client engagements.
- Knowledge of local, regional, and state siting, planning, and CEQA process
- Familiarity with land development, energy, utilities, and/or transportation-related projects is preferred. Familiarity with Gas Transmission projects is highly preferred.
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in planning, natural resources, or related field, and 2 to 5 years of post-degree experience in land use and/or environmental planning. Must have experience leading or supporting project site visits and kick off meetings, developing planning documents, desktop evaluations.
- A Land Use and Environmental Planner Certificate or ability to obtain within 24 months is highly preferred.
- Masters' degree is preferred. Ability to conduct environmental site evaluations and preparing related documentation and training, and mentoring of staff, is desirable.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $55,000-$73,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
