A Senior Engineer is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability is at the solution level.
As a Senior Engineer you will be collaborating with engineers to build and support merch planning capabilities that support the merchandising product selection capability. You will be building new features in a cloud-based architecture using object-oriented programing systems/database concepts in an agile, collaborative environment. You will work directly with product and business stakeholders to build this brand-new platform and modernize the capability that our business users need, deprecating legacy products and processes along the way. We encourage innovation and expect developers to take a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle. You will need a strong passion to innovate and collaborate across teams to deliver a multi-channel solution for our business partners.
A day in the life...
- Conduct Code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and enforce coding standards to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of complex software systems and applications.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and growth within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, User Acceptance Testing/Quality Assurance to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Drive initiatives and process improvement, automation and optimization of development workflows.
You own this if you have...
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering
- 4+ years professional experience in practice area
- Proficient in analyzing, designing and developing reliable and scalable solutions
- Proficient in more than 1 Object Oriented language such as Java, C#, C++ etc.
- Proven track record in Java and Java Spring boot framework and C#
- Experience with RESTful architecture and micro-services
- Experience with cloud-based services (AWS/GCP)
- Experience with containerization (K8/Docker)
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Familiar with real-time data streaming (Kafka /SQS) will be a plus
- Should be able to articulate and architecture a well-designed system
- Provide guidance and oversight for implementation and delivery of a feature
- Collaborate with other engineers and leads on feature design and delivery to business users
- Provide mentoring to other developers and engineers on best engineering practices
- Architects scalable and efficient software solutions that meet business requirements and adhere to best practices
- Experience in Full stack development will be a plus
- Experience with DynamoDB and Aurora RDS will be a plus

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Colorado: $114,000 - $176,500 Annually, Washington: $114,000 - $201,500 Annually
This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
