The Senior Electrical Engineer - IoT will lead the design, adapting, and troubleshooting of wireless circuits for performance, cost, and manufacturability. This engineer will also identify wireless trends to drive strategies and Milwaukee Tool's technical direction. You will work through the product development process in a team environment interacting with cross-functional stakeholders such as hardware, firmware, product development, and reliability engineers.
You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
  • Mentor and coach the team in engineering best practices including task management, root cause analysis, circuit / PCB design, and regulatory compliance for mid to high complexity projects.
  • Make minor firmware modifications to generate and adjust prototypes
  • Lead technology investigations, develop system requirements, define future architectures and reusability strategies.
  • Design and qualify new products to applicable regulatory standards such as FCC, IC, CE, UL, Bluetooth, NFC, Cellular etc.
  • Work with marketing, project leadership, and product owners to add new IoT features for next generation power tools.
  • Quickly, effectively, and candidly frame-up and escalate business risks/opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
  • Lead the development of test plans/procedures and test cases for new product embedded systems and subsystems development.
  • Effectively communicate and motivate up, down and across the organization to a diverse range of technical and non-technical team members.
  • Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization's needs.
  • Develop plans to evaluate and assess the emerging technology market space to fit/compliment Milwaukee Tool product initiatives and development.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of wireless embedded systems experience.
  • Understanding of digital circuits and the interaction between firmware and electronics in a communications system. Ability to realize component level design.
  • Practical knowledge in developing low power designs, delivering modular and reusable code to expand capabilities in the future.
  • Familiarity with using schematic capture, PCB layout software, and knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Understanding of wireless regulatory certification standards such as FCC, IC, CE, etc.
  • Expertise designing products containing Bluetooth Low Energy protocols and features.
  • Familiarity with C programming and related development tools and processes, especially relating to microcontroller peripherals.
  • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Application of additional communication protocols and features such as Cellular Cat-M, LoRa, and Wi-Fi.
  • Working knowledge of a second modern programming language such as Python or C++.
