Job Summary:
Directs, plans, and manages multiple teams responsible for corporate banking operations activities. Develops, recommends and implements business plans, operational procedures and systems which support the organization's strategic objectives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directs and controls the activities of operations teams responsible for corporate banking activities including support of cash management, deposit services, account reconciliation, card management and payment services.
  • Prepares business plans, budget, and goal setting for the unit and analyzes and implements cost cutting initiatives. Provides operational expertise and makes recommendations for the successful implementation of revenue generating or cost management initiatives.
  • Ensures that the delivery of operations services to internal and external customers meet or exceed service level expectations. Provides constructive operational performance feedback to internal partners to improve processes.
  • Participates in long-term or strategic planning for the department. Determines departmental structure and allocates resources. Contributes to formulation of corporate-wide operations strategy and policy.
  • Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex team member-related issues.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
Minimum Experience: Fifteen years of banking experience including production/operations management and five years in a management role OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office software products.

Additional Information
  • If the incumbent has been identified as a Risk Liasion by Synovus Risk, incumbent will be Risk Liasion between the business unit (BU) leader(s) and the functional risk areas, responisble for communicating and promoting the understanding of risk management and compliance requirements within the BU, informing the business line executive of material changes in risk or control breakdown deficiencies, and communicating self-testing results, breach of KRI's, and loss/near-miss incidents to the appropriate risk function in a timely manner. Participates in BU risk assessment activities and verifies that ongoing risk triggers and policy exceptions are tracked and reported appropriately. Monitors the business unit's resolution of internal and external issues and exam findings.
  • Partners with Compliance, Risk, QA, Legal, and Audit developing internal monitoring/controls in department to ensure complaince of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau guidelines.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills Abilities:
  • Minimum of five years experience and accomplished results-oriented leadership offering demonstrated success in a diverse operations and project management portfolio. Strengths to include strategy, collaboration, execution, organization, and communication skills with a commitment to customer satisfaction. Demonstrates excellent judgment with a mindset for change agent and strives to reduce the complexity of the business. Maintains a customer-centric viewpoint to effectively manage departments that pormote process optimization and increase revenue.
  • Establishes, builds and maintains relationships with cross-functional teams and managers to understand and drive business requirements.
  • Skilled in translating complex technical requirements into relevant business terms for teammates, partners, and executives.
  • Skilled in understanding current business model and strategy while developing the roadmap by planning target dates for delivery of next generation solutions, including restructuring teams to align with bank's growth strategy.
  • Skills to enhance and/or develop detailed project plans, KRI's, and KPI's to track and report performance and milestones to senior leadership.
