Form of workGAI Consultants is seeking a Senior Designer for our Indiana Transportation Team. This position requires a working knowledge of CAD-based drafting and design systems such as AutoCAD or MicroStation. This position will be involved with all aspects of CAD for support of Transportation design projects, work out of our Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, or Fishers office, and will be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
This position requires working with engineering and other technical subject matter experts in all aspects of roadway design services. The successful candidate will perform roadway design and CAD work of creating details and plan sheets along with associated calculations for various INDOT and local transportation design projects throughout Indiana. This position will support and work under a Professional Engineer’s supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilizing CADD design software for roadway and drainage design.
- Taking engineering designs and producing a full set of construction plans including title sheets, detail sheets, layout, plan and profile, general plan, maintenance of traffic, and cross-sections.
- Learning and helping to find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
- Effective communication with the project team.
- Working in a team environment with other CAD staff, engineers, and project managers.
- Review and correct own work for Quality Control Purposes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation applications
- Knowledge of roadway construction drawings
- Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Able to navigate computer applications quickly
- Good understanding of roadway design and details including quantity take-offs
- Ability to learn and comprehend workflows
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Flexible with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
