The Senior Designer independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to produce complete project documents and/or perform field work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare complete project documents and/or performs field work
• Formulate and solve problems
• Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs

• Apply logical thought processes and organizing resources to solve issues and meet commitments
• Possess advanced oral and written communication skills
• Proficient with CAD software
• Proficient with design software related to area of specialty such as Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads to produce rail and roadway alignments
• Proficient in preparing calculations using technical software and/or spreadsheets
• Ability to produce completed project documents and/or perform field work under minimal direction of the engineer or project manager
• Ability to train and mentor junior staff
• Proficient with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)

• High School Diploma
• 5+ years’ experience

• Trade school certification with CAD software

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Assign tasks to and directly work with junior-level designers, or administrative staff
• Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the design work
