Job Summary:
The Senior Designer independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to produce complete project documents and/or perform field work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete project documents and/or performs field work
- Formulate and solve problems
- Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Apply logical thought processes and organizing resources to solve issues and meet commitments
- Possess advanced oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with CAD software
- Proficient with design software related to area of specialty such as Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads to produce rail and roadway alignments
- Proficient in preparing calculations using technical software and/or spreadsheets
- Ability to produce completed project documents and/or perform field work under minimal direction of the engineer or project manager
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff
- Proficient with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- 5+ years’ experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Trade school certification with CAD software
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assign tasks to and directly work with junior-level designers, or administrative staff
- Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the design work
