ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for developing concepts into functional prototypes using efficient and affordable processes. Their duties include preparing design packages, researching possible productions methods, and use CAD software to develop and refine solutions to customer inquiries. The engineer collaborates with other departments on product design, research, development, testing, and manufacturing to create functional products meeting the requirements and constraints of the customer. They provide estimates of the time necessary to complete the design phase of an order which helps provide other departments with information to provide project schedule to customers. They are responsible for mitigating design risks and conforming to all design procedures and requirements.
•Electrical Connector, Cable, and Harness design and documentation in accordance with applicable Military and Commercial Specifications.
•Collaborates with Production, Quality, Test Lab, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure project/department milestones are met and in adherence to approved budgets and/or timeline.
•Prepare design documentation for design reviews of new product to ensure customer requirements are met and design/assembly process is feasible.
•Ensure effective design compliance with customer drawings and or MIL-SPEC specifications meeting environmental and performance requirements while mitigating cost and risk.
•Actively addressing technical problems and making improvements to existing drawings as required
•Research possible solutions to technical challenges posed by customers.
•Drafting using AutoCAD and/or Solidworks and using Solidworks to create 3D models.
•Reviews Acceptance Criteria and participation in Material Review Board Dispositions.
•Reviews engineering drawings created by other members of the engineering department.
•Mentor and develop new engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or a minimum of 5-year engineering experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
•Strong analytical, problem solving, and trouble shooting skills
•Hands-on experience using measuring tools and equipment
•Ability to work effectively within cross departmental teams and independently
•Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
•Excellent geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills and experience with wiring diagrams
•Excellent time management skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $97,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
