Job Description
Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant position is responsible for assisting the leadership team with the accounting
operations of the company, to include aiding in the production of periodic financial reports,
maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and
budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
This position will report directly to the Director of Finance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Accounts receivable including preparing and issuing invoices, applying payments, and managing
collections in a timely manner
Accounts payable including entering and paying project and non-project invoices and vendor bills in
a timely manner
Routine monitoring and recording of bank and credit card transactions
Perform monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner
Budget management including tracking project and department-level budgets
Accounting system administration including chart of accounts, departments, and location
configuration and maintenance
Financial reporting including preparing income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and budget vs.
actual reports
Department and company-level scorecard development, tracking, and reporting
Act as a liaison to external partners in support of tax preparation and other activities
Compliance support including managing and ensuring renewal of company insurance policies and
professional licenses
Document policies and procedures and implement a continuous improvement program
Qualifications
Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline
Active CPA License preferred
Experience
Minimum 5 years of accounting and/or finance experience
Experience in an engineering, architectural, construction or professional services industry preferred
Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Deltek Vantagepoint preferred
Skills/Competencies
Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills including pivot tables, vlookups, and formulas
Ability to adapt to processes and deal with ambiguity
