Position Announcement
Provides professional accounting services including account reconciliations, reports, analysis, training, and other accounting duties specifically as it relates to oversight and reporting for the plant funds, debt service, and pledged revenue, as well as preparing other internal and external financial statements and reports as assigned. Assist accounting personnel with various accounting duties, report generation, data analysis, and reconciliation. Ensures campus is compliant with outside government financial and accounting regulations. Additional information about the department can be found online at
Responsibilities
  • Oversee reconciliation, tracking, and reporting of bonded debt, fixed assets, pledged revenue, business operations, and plant fund projects. Work closely with Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, and other departments to ensure accurate records and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations, reports and schedules. Assist with preparing year-end and financial reports to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Prepare schedules, entries, and footnotes for the annual financial statements and work with the auditors during their audit of the financial statements.
  • Facilitate timely completion and filing of Foundation IRS filings including Form 990 as required.
  • Respond to financial account inquiries by university personnel.
  • Hire, train and supervise part-time accounting assistants.
  • Maintain professional communication skills while interacting effectively with students, colleagues, university departments and outside agencies.
  • Maintain deep understanding and knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as University policies, and how they apply to the University's accounting and finance processes and practices.
  • Remain current knowledgeable in accounting rules and regulations and assist with ongoing compliance with GAAP and GASB matters, accounting software modifications and updates, and tax laws affecting the University.
  • Provide accounting support and guidance to various departments as assigned.
  • Assist with financial reporting and reconciling activities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least three years' accounting experience, with progressively higher levels of responsibility, required; experience in public or higher education accounting preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of university policies and procedures, as well as principles and practices of accounting, financial, and budget management in an academic environment.
  • Ability to work within strict accounting and financial statement deadlines and guidelines.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office suite and associated financial statement programs. Banner Finance experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exercise excellent human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective relations with university employees and the public.

Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $60,000 - $65,000 depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of February 2024.
