Duties and Responsibilities of Senior Construction Accountant
Job Responsibilities
• Responsible for the accounting operations of the company
• Communicate routinely with Project Managers on a variety of job-related topics including monthly progress billings, job budgeting, job financial performance.
• Participate in the formation and implementation of company financial plans
• Preparation of financial reports
• Work with outside accounting/financial firms on monthly close-out procedures • Provide reporting and budgeting as required by Senior Management.
• Manage company and project cash flow
• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable staff and functions.
• Develop written accounting procedures for the operations staff and work with team to ensure proper implementation and compliance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key partners including banks, title companies, etc. that will support and grow the business
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
Job Experience Requirements
1. Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
2. Experience: Previous experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry
3. Construction Knowledge: A solid understanding of construction industry practices, terminology, and project management is essential.
4. Financial Software Skills: Proficiency in financial software and accounting tools is crucial. Skilled in using QuickBooks, Excel, ComputerEase, Busybusy
5. Analytical Skills: Be able to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to project stakeholders.
6. Attention to Detail: Construction projects involve numerous financial transactions, and accuracy is vital. Candidates must pay close attention to detail to avoid errors that could impact project finances.
7. Communication: Effective communication skills are essential. Be able to collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, and financial teams.
8. Compliance and Regulations: Knowledge of relevant tax laws, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
