POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant (Payroll) will be responsible for posting all payroll accounting entries in Microsoft Dynamics coming out of Workday Payroll for all Alterra Mountain Company legal entities. This position will work with HR, HRIS, Payroll, Finance and Accounting to determine methods and solutions for posting labor after each payroll completion. This position will be responsible for a variety of monthly accounting tasks related to payroll accounting. This role will serve as an individual contributor, as well as in a review capacity of staff work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Responsibilities

• Understand the payroll transactions coming out of Workday Payroll and ensure labor and related expenses are being booked properly to the financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
• Prepare/Review 500+ Account Reconciliations related to payroll processing activities.
• Identify errors and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement process improvement opportunities.
• Follow established policy and procedures related to payroll accounting.
• Prepare/review journal entries related to payroll transactions.
• Provide payroll analysis as required by Resorts/Corporate Accounting to explain variance questions related to actual versus budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 4 or more years of accounting related experience in a high volume fast paced environment
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
• Large company experience (greater than $1B in revenue)
• Proven ability to independently resolve issues and recommend process improvements
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Workday and Microsoft Dynamics D365 experience preferred
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• 4-year degree required; advanced degree preferred
• CPA or CMA preferred

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.'s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base salary range: $63,000 - $95,000 per year
