The Family Office Management (FOM) group at Bessemer Trust, which provides operational and administrative services to ultra-high net worth families, trusts, and foundations, is actively recruiting an experienced accountant to serve as Senior Accountant in its Woodbridge, New Jersey office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze and summarize current as well as historical client financial data to support the preparation of unaudited statements, including balance sheets, statements of net worth, income statements, budgets, and cash flow statements.
- Recording of clients’ personal and investment income and expenses, and reconciliation to monthly bank or broker statements and relative informational tax returns (Forms 1099 and K-1).
- Preparation of adjusting and eliminating journal entries for periodic (monthly, quarterly, etc.) closing and consolidations when required.
- Respond quickly and professionally to clients’ ad hoc analysis and reporting needs.
- Must possess a sound understanding of investment accounting, including alternative investments.
- Professional collaboration and interaction with other departments within FOM, as well as with client advisor teams and other internal departments.
- Oversight and direction of the work of junior accountants when required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in the use of QuickBooks accounting software required.
- CPA preferred.
- Individual and small business accounting experience beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments for several clients in a fast-paced environment and the ability to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
- Clear communicator with good writing / presentation skills and interpersonal skills who is detail oriented, highly motivated, and a self-starter.
- Demonstrated ability to use tact, discretion, confidentiality and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation.
