SalaryJob Summary: As a member of the company’s accounting team, the Senior Accountant will ensure all financial transactions are timely and properly recorded according to generally accepted accounting principles. The Senior Accountant will also ensure effectiveness and accuracy of accounting tasks, including transactional processing, financial analysis, budget support and monitoring, and monthly financial statements.

- Assist with the monthly and year-end closing procedures including maintaining proper documentation for closed accounting periods.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly P&L reporting to the board, including revenue, cost and expense analysis, actual vs. budget variance explanations, etc.
- Ensure monthly general ledger account reconciliations are completed, discrepancies investigated and related adjusting entries timely/properly recorded.
- Monitor intercompany charges activity, produce the required monthly billing, and ensure the intercompany receivable and payable accounts are reconciled.
- Assist with the billing of product sales and related revenue accounting as needed.
- Promote and monitor the integrity and standardization of accounting data to increase effectiveness of analytical tools used in accounting and financial reporting.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and related variance analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual audit by gathering the necessary account information, collecting data, and any required documentation required for the annual audit.
- Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of accounting policies and ERP enhancements and upgrades.
- Become subject matter expert in the ERP system (SAGE X3) accounting & finance module and promote the development of best practices regarding the processing of financial transactions.
- Assist with the preparation required to file local, state, and federal taxes and ensure compliance with federal regulatory requirements.

- Forward-thinking with the ability to analyze and recommend accounting process improvements.
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel savvy, and expertise using enterprise resource software systems, experience with Sage X3 preferred.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting or related field.
- Five years of experience in professional accounting, preferably in a corporate environment with multiple legal entities.
- Cost accounting experience and extensive understanding of US general acceptable accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAGE X3, NetSuite, Oracle)
- Previous accounting-related work experience in manufacturing and/or chemical industry preferred.
