Position Summary

AlpHa Measurement Solutions is experiencing aggressive growth through a global platform consolidation and recognizes a need to continuously strengthen its Accounting & Finance capabilities to meet increased demand and support continued growth. We are establishing a Staff Accountant role to contribute meaningfully to our Accounting Department.

Our privately held company has over 100 years of liquid sensing experience, is growing, and currently employs 230 team members in Houston Texas and 110 in Shanghai China. Our global headquarters is conveniently located in Houston at the southwest intersection of I-69 and Sam Houston Tollway, just north of Sugar Land.

Classification: Salary, Exempt, Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and as required to maintain business momentum.

A Staff Accountant should be an enthusiastic team player for a private equity-backed growing manufacturing company. The Staff Accountant role is responsible for supporting the accounting department, and their function, by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, supporting the period close process and participating in other general accounting projects as assigned. He or She should be able to work accurately and efficiently at fast-paced environment. The Staff Accountant position requires a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and assists with the supervision of accounting operations. He or She is well versed in financial reporting and collaborating audit requirements.

Critical Performance Objectives & Responsibilities:

• Ensure transactions are properly approved and recorded in compliance with applicable Company policies and procedures, and current accounting standards (Coordinator role).
• Examine documentation and verify accuracy of computations for recording of proposed transactions.
• Review and update the detailed schedules of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation, calculate depreciation for all fixed assets, and provide fixed asset acquisition and disposition general ledger entries.
• Drive monthly and year-end general ledger closing activities for multiple plant locations to include preparing, reviewing, and entering journal entries.
• Prepare and verify working papers, schedules, and reports to support work performed.
• Perform balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations. Resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation, and assist with answering audit inquiries.
• Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
• Perform Intercompany Reconciliations
• Assist with and make recommendations for development of analytical tools, measurements, and reports that help drive improvement across affiliates and departments.
• Perform research and provide potential solutions to problems that arise.
• Prepare support for property tax renditions for AlpHa North America.
• Assist Controller and CFO on Board of Director’s Quarterly presentation and data preparation.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly comparison, and monthly financial analysis/graphs.
• Other accounting and finance tasks as assigned.

• B.S. degree in accounting
• Minimum of 3 years experience
• Strong understanding of debits/credits and accounting principles (GAAP).
• Must have strong Excel skills including xlookup, sumifs, and advanced pivot table skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Strong skills in working with and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Must be a strong team player, highly motivated and able to work under pressure during peak periods.
