Unity Family Services, Inc. is a licensed mental health provider located in Southwestern Pennsylvania who strives to raise the bar in mental health services. For over 20 years, we have been serving the community in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Indiana, and Westmoreland Counties. This industry leader is looking to add an experienced Senior Accountant / Controller to our agency.
The Senior Accountant will be fully responsible for all aspects of accounting for the company, including audits, tax payments, budgets, insurance, and benefits plans.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes to ensure all balance sheets are reconciled.
2. Oversee general ledger, ensuring compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
3. Act as the sole controller and staff accountant for the company.
4. Operates closely with executives on budgeting and forecasting by preparing and submitting financial reports to management.
5. Coordinate and complete annual financial audits.
6. Review and prepare federal, state, and local business taxes.
7. Utilize electronic accounting and payroll systems to record all transactions for reports and audits.
8. Manage insurance policies: liability, workers compensation, etc.
9. Assist in administration of benefits plans: IRA, etc.
10. Administer bi-weekly (26/annual) payrolls for 50-75 employees.
11. Document all financial processes and procedures.
12. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by executive management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in accounting or related field
· CPA License preferred.
· Hands-on experience in Public Accounting is highly desired.
· Experience with both accounting and controller duties in a smaller organization highly desired.
· Experience in healthcare environments preferred.
· Experience serving as the sole financial/accounting professional or a member of a small team at a location is highly desired.
· Experience with S corporations preferred.
· 3+ years experience with online accounting software (Quickbooks, Intuit, Qualifacts preferred.)
· Proficient computing skills (Office, Excel, etc.)
· Must have strong problem-solving skills.
· Ability to learn and use other software tools as required.
Physical Requirements:
· Sufficient vision acuity for computer use, and moderate to heavy reading and writing responsibilities.
· Position requires walking, sitting, and standing at moderate levels.
· Position requires excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
· Occasional lifting of 10-20 pounds.
Requirements of Continued Employment:
· Act 33/34 clearances required.
· FBI clearances.
· Ability to comply with regulations of Medicaid and Medicare services.
· Must pass initial and random drug testing.
