Basic Function: We’re seeking an experienced accounting professional to add to our Accounting Team. This role provides an opportunity to grow your network, gain significant exposure to virtually all aspects of the real estate investing industry, and drive value to the back-office operations of our clients. The Senior Accountant will support the successful preparation of monthly financial statements for our clients and work alongside our bookkeepers and controllers to ensure timely and accruate accounting and month-end close processes.
Responsibilities:
- Record various journal entries throughout the month across various clients, including payroll, debt, and shared services allocations.
- Record journal entries for property acquisitions, refinances, and dispositions.
- Perform account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct, as well as gather supporting documentation and perform recordkeeping.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
- Assist in month-end and year-end financial closes, and prepare reports for analysis as needed.
- Support the Head of Retainer and Controllers in their duties as needed.
Supervises: No direct reports.
Working Conditions: Primarily remote envrionment. Periodic weekend and evening work may be required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to meet deadlines: This role will be a crucial piece to ensuring that we meet our month-end close deadlines and deliver on our services in the timeline promised to our clients.
- Drive: We are looking for a self-starter to play an active role in the enhancement and evolve our systems, process, and most importantly, our client deliverables.
- Software: Working knowledge of accounting software and/or ERPs. Knowledge of Quickbooks Online, Appfolio, or larger ERPs is desired.
- FP&A Background: Develop and continually improve budgeting, financial projections, and operating forecasts. Develop and maintain complex financial models to support decision-making for our clients. Analyze the trends of key performance indicators (KPIs), especially relating to financial metrics such as sales, expenses, and profit margin.
- Strong Excel skills: Strong Excel skills are necessary. Ability to perform analysis and reconciliations efficiently and in a repeatable way is crucial.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field. Advanced degree or a CPA license is an added advantage.
- Real Estate Knowledge: An understanding of the real estate industry, including market trends, property valuations, investment strategies, property management and construction, real estate financing is helpful.
