About the Position
We are seeking an engaged and versatile Accountant III to perform a wide range of accounting activities. Under direction from management and using independent judgment, this role performs advanced and specialized accounting assignments from confidential data. Obtains and analyzes financial information to prepare reports, statements, and recommendations. Provides work leadership and direction to an Accounting Clerk. Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly Accounting tasks. May also provide special project assistance to the Controller, General Manager, and Owners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
· Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures
· Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting
· Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts
· Perform monthly accruals
· Update Personal Property Taxes report
· Assist with closing month-end
· Reconcile fixed assets accounts to general ledger and report to the state of WA
· Contribute to cleanliness and compliance of Food Packaging Safety standards and protocols
· Perform other duties as assigned
Accounts Receivable
· Process check deposits, payments and credits; compare invoices to checks received, prepare deposit, and investigate discrepancies
· Process ACH payments and wires
· Oversees aging AR process; contact customers to request payment, work with Sales on accounts that are past due
· Run financial reports for collections, past due notices and daily detail registers, follow-up
· Oversee credit application process, assist with decision, provide feedback
Accounts Payable
· Process manual checks
· Manage account 1085 for Purchasing for proper inventory
· Handle foreign A/P entries and outgoing international wires
· Assist with vendor questions and set-up new vendor accounts
· Prepare and file Excise Tax Returns; file B&O taxes
· Create 1099s and run report per IRS regulations
Position requirements
Qualifications, skills and abilities:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
· 5+ years of experience in an accounting role
· Experience working in a manufacturing environment
· Prioritize activities based on daily workload and critical activities
· Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software and Accounting software
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and vendors
· Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions when necessary.
· Display willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, support and explain reasoning for decisions, include appropriate people in decision-making process.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
· Ability to handle confidential information
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
· While performing the responsibility of the job, the employee is required to sit for long periods, talk and hear.
· This person is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.
· Vision abilities include close, and the ability to adjust focus.
· Ability to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
· The noise level is typical for an open-space office.
