The Security Supervisorat Carnegie Hall plays a central part in safeguarding the security within our esteemed venue. This role entails reporting directly to the Manager of Security and working in close collaboration with the Manager of Security, especially when taking on the role of Security Director. The Security Supervisor is entrusted with the ability to lead security operations when the Director or Manager is not on-site, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted security presence.
Their primary responsibilities include:
- Schedule security guards across multiple venues and performances, ensuring that the appropriate number of guards are present with the necessary qualifications to meet the security detail determined by the Director and Manager
- Supervise performance guards, enforcing dress code, orienting them to their specific post per assignment, ensuring that they remain attentive, monitoring their demeanor and customer service skill as appropriate to a performing arts environment, and otherwise meeting post requirements, including rotating guards to make certain that they have appropriate restroom breaks
- Serve as the next level of escalation in addressing any security issues identified by guards, ushers, or House Management, prior to escalation to the Manager or Director, depending on nature of issue
- Review invoices, assisting the Director and Manager, to make certain that the Security invoices are appropriately paid, expenses are correctly tracked by event and, by extension, helping to ensure that guards are paid in a timely manner
- Fill in for Security Desk Officer when needed
- Serve as a Deputy Fire Life Safety Director
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and positively influence others, communicate clearly in a positive and productive manner, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships inter- and intra-departmentally
- Proven staff management skills, with the work both independently and as a team
- Ability and willingness to periodically work flexible hours related to major events
- A minimum of five years' experience in the security field or comparable experience as a first responder
- Certified Fire Life Safety Director and/or background as first-responder with ability to become certified
- NYS Security Guard license
- F-03 Fire Guard License
- CPR certification
- Integrity, reliability, and confidentiality required
