The Security Officer position requires excellent customer service skills, as you will be working with a diverse community in our exciting traveling exhibits. This position will use observational skills while responding to incidents and assisting museum guests. There is additional training and future opportunities to expand your knowledge and duties within the Security Department.
- Observes, patrols, monitors and controls access for the entire Museum facility complex.
- Reports safety and security discrepancies.
- Dispatching of officers and emergency response. Monitoring software, CCTV, and fire panels.
- Immediately responds to and assists in the coordination of emergency incidents.
- Communicates to guest and staff information appropriate for each situation.
- Maintains a balance of customer service, legal behavior and adherence to procedures while enforcing museum rules and policies.
- Maintains required training certifications in First aid and CPR annually.
- Provides special escorts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School or equivalent required
- 1 year experience in security, or military or equivalent related service required
- Current driver’s license with clean driving record, or ability to obtain license within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to comply with requirements for Denver Security License within 30 days of hire.
- Office: Moderate noise (business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
- Lifting requirements: Medium physical effort required by handling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Stand or sit: must be able to remain in a stationary position (80% of the time)
- Ability to walk 6-8 miles/day to patrol the Museum and property.
- Ability to work outside as needed in all types of weather.
- Ability to move someone in a wheelchair, or relocate an injured party to a safer area.
- Ability to climb ladders and investigate issues in an emergency.
- May need to detain suspects for police apprehension.
