A Security Attendant II is the full performance level of work involving the security and care of patients at Maryland Department of Health (MDH) facilities where care is provided to mentally ill offenders, patients or residents who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies; and to those who are too violent for a regular hospital or residential setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. Employees in this classification do not supervise other positions.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety and security of the organization
- Conduct risk assessments and make recommendations for security enhancements
- Monitor and analyze security systems, including CCTV and alarm systems
- Respond to incidents and emergencies, including conducting investigations and documenting findings
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver security training programs
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in security management
Experience: One year of experience providing security to patients, or inmates or youths committed by courts to psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities or juvenile detention centers.
Skills:
- Loss prevention: Implement strategies to minimize theft, fraud, and other losses within the organization
- Certificate: Possess relevant certifications in security management or related fields
- CCTV: Proficient in operating and monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems
- Militarise: Apply military principles and tactics to enhance security operations
- Surveillance: Conduct surveillance activities to identify potential threats or risks
- Law enforcement: Understand laws and regulations related to security operations
- CPR: Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques
- First aid: Knowledge of first aid procedures to provide immediate medical assistance if needed
- Conflict management: Ability to deescalate conflicts and handle difficult situations professionally
