SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Thisposition is a part-time, non-exempt/hourly position (no benefits) providing clerical,computer, and staff administrative support for academic areas within the school,primarily focused on Engineering and Abilene Hall. The person in this positionwill be working 29 hours a week on a regular basis during the fall and spring semestersonly. There is an option for this individual to work up to 80 hours between theend of the spring semester and the beginning of the fall semester (no more than40 hours per week), given that the need for such work exists.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assistfaculty members with inputting and accessing data and materials in Canvas.
AssistProgram Director with reports, surveys, data collection, and record keeping foroutcome measures for Engineering accreditation.
Assistfaculty with purchasing/requisition requests.
Serveas contact person for alumni, prospective students, & others visiting AbileneHall.
Coordinatepurchasing of office supplies.
Provideassistance to the Administrative Assistant of the Dean's Office.
Requestwebsite updates associated with academic programs.
Organize records and information (e.g., outcome data).
Facilitatefinancial transactions for student organization events, activities, andbanquets.
Design,distribute, and compile data associated with program-related surveys.
Assistin scheduling other program-related events, meetings, and activities.
Coordinatetravel arrangements for faculty members and students.
Performother duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervisesstudent employees for the Department of Engineering. Carries out supervisoryresponsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicablelaws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, andtraining student employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraisingperformance; rewarding and disciplining student employees; addressingcomplaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read andinterpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports andcorrespondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers oremployees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability toadd and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money andweight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to applycommon sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concretevariables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software;Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Payroll systems and Order processingsystems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma required. Associatedegree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six monthsto one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience is preferred.
Minimum of one year of experienceworking in a related clerical and/or administrative assistant role or othercustomer service-oriented entity required.
Strong computer skills are required,using Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
Must be customer oriented and able torelate to students, faculty, staff and community members in using the libraryin a collegial manner in-person, online, and by phone.
Must be responsible and very dependablefor public service scheduling.
Must be able to solve problems in themoment.
Must possess excellent oral and writtencommunication skills.
Must be organized, able to handleseveral projects simultaneously and be flexible regarding tasks.
Must have the ability to stay on taskwithout direct supervision.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Thisis a Part-Time/No Benefits, Non-Exempt/Hourly position which will be scheduledfor 29 hours per week on a regular basis during the fall and spring semestersonly.
Thereis an option for this individual to work "up to 80 hours" between the end ofthe spring semester and the beginning of the fall semester (no more than 40hours per week), given that the need for such work exists. Otherwise, thisposition is not scheduled to work the regular 29 hours during the summer months(June - August).
If/whenadditional hours are approved, all hours worked beyond 40 hours in a singlework week will be compensated at time and a half, per FSLA guidelines.
Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able todrive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
