Job description

Pay Range: $19.44 / hour

Season: May - September

Position Summary
Guest Services Cashiers serve as the first point of contact for our guests at the Zoo’s entrances and play a key role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who visits the zoo. They can act as Greeters, Line Captains, Rovers within the Zoo, and Cashiers for both General Admission entry and Oakland Zoo Member entry. These essential members of our team help connect folks to amazing experiences at the Zoo.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide excellent service to all Zoo guests and fellow Zoo Staff, supporting a friendly and helpful environment
  • Conduct cash, credit, and occasional check transactions with careful attention to details and accuracy
  • Provide efficient and responsive support to all guests
  • Maintain up-to-date, detailed knowledge of admissions policies and procedures
  • Maintain an organized workspace and adhere to proper cash-handling procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Conservation Society of California’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of behavior
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

  • Able to tolerate varying inclement outdoor weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind and rain
  • The Oakland Zoo requires full Covid vaccination (including up-to-date boosters)
