Job title: Sewing Machine Operator at Parris Island, SC Fair Labor Standards Act

Classification: Service Contract Act

Summary/objective: Tech Systems Inc has an opportunity open for sewing machine operators in the alterations and tailoring of military uniforms for the United States Marine Corps aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.

On-the-job training will be considered based on the candidate’s profile.

RESPONSIBILITIES: -Ensure compliance with client technical manual, -Excel in operating all sewing related equipment, -Notify Production Manager of any quality or machinery problems, -Work within established productivity and quality standards, -Ensure cleanliness of equipment and assigned area, -Completes other duties as directed by the Production Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS: -Ability to listen, learn, and communicate with Production Manager, -Good time management skills to meet/complete daily tasks and timelines, -Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changes or restructure of priorities based on client needs, -Knowledge of sewing machine maintenance and setup skills, -Able to work overtime as needed, -Must be dependable and reliable. -Must have driver's license and ability to access MCRD Parris Island. Pass applied for upon employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: -Monday through Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm, with overtime as necessary to ensure deliveries are made on time, -No travel required, -Must use proper PPE and follow all safety guidelines and regulations, -Requires ability to sit for long periods of time bend slightly from the waist to move material through sewing machine, -Constantly push/pull fabric through sewing machine using arms and hands from a seated position, -Guides parts under needle, using fingers and hands, and following edges, seams, guides on machines, -Must be able to lift an armful of unfinished/finished fabric and materials; weight adjusted according to individual ability and comfort level.

EXPERIENCE: -Prior sewing machine experience preferred, -Training provided, sewing test required for continued employment. -Prior experience with the alteration of military uniforms preferred.
