Position Number 40450 Hiring Unit Clean Plant Center Northwest Work Location Prosser Zip Code 99350 This position is in a Bargaining Unit No Summary of DutiesThe Scientific Assistant Senior will manage the day-to-day operations of the Tissue culture and Therapy services program within the Clean Plant Center Northwest (CPCNW), reporting to the CPCNW Director, and working with the CPCNW Business, Diagnostic, and Production Managers to ensure an efficient flow of material through the virus elimination process.
This position will be responsible for performing virus elimination protocols on infected plants (fruit trees, grapevines and hops), developing, optimizing and implementing new virus elimination procedures, publishing and presenting findings, supervising staff, and managing inventory.

Position Term in Months 12 Monthly Salary Commensurate with qualifications and experience.A Master's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. A PhD in a scientific or engineering field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required work experience.
Additional RequirementsFour (4) years of professional experience in plant tissue culture and/or related methods or a PhD in Plant Pathology or Horticulture with two (2) years of professional experience.
Two (2) years of demonstrated effective supervisory experience.
Familiarity with standard laboratory operating procedures.
Knowledge of general principles of scientific process.
Intermediate level software skills including the use of Microsoft Office; spreadsheets and word processing tools.
Must have, or be able to obtain by the time of hire, a valid driver's license.
Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
