The School Nutrition Maintenance and Deliveries Driver is responsible for performing work associated with transporting, receiving, and warehousing food, non-food supplies, equipment, etc. for the School Nutrition program.
Essential Duties:
- Assist in processing pick tickets, school food orders/transfers, service/work requests; determine and execute actions to be taken.
- Assist in inventory monitoring of items in warehouse, central freezers, and conducting reconciliation.
- Assist in transporting items to/from receiving or shipping areas, to/from storage, or to/from designated areas. Assemble, store, and mark materials as appropriate.
- Assist with the loading and/or unloading of goods leaving the warehouse to ensure safe and undamaged delivery.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation procedures when transporting, handling, storing, and receiving food; monitor temperature and record for central refrigerated freezers and dry food storage areas.
- Perform preventative maintenance as necessary.
- Comply with state law and district policies and regulations, and perform duties in full compliance.
- Assemble equipment and furniture for School Nutrition.
- Assist with managing the use and care of small and large equipment.
- Complete all required training including, but not limited to, State Nutrition Training, annual local training, and the 30 hour Orientation for Nutrition Employees.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by appropriate administrator.
- High school diploma or state approved high school equivalency (HSE) required.
- Must be able to use power tools and common hand tools properly and safely.
- Ability and availability to respond to facility-related emergencies, working outside normal business hours when necessary.
- Good driving record; ability to drive box truck and van.
- Ability to maintain a positive, professional, tactful, and cooperative working relationship with all educators, students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to cooperate and work well with people, take oral and written instructions, and follow through with efficiency.
- Basic computer skills required, as well as email correspondence. Ability to manage time and write routine reports and correspondence, required.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
- Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Some kneeling required. Ability to work in conditions with extreme cold or heat.
- Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to two hundred (200) pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the day, and use hand trucks and dollies to transport materials.
- Repetitive motion is required. Requires exposure to inclement weather conditions.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
