POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Based Wellness Center (SBWC) Manager supervises the School-Based Wellness Center (SBHC) operations and coordinates the provision of SBWC services with internal and external stakeholders. This position provides overall supervision, coordination and management of clinical support positions. The SBWC Manager performs related duties as required.
As a member of the health center's integrated care team, the Medical Assistant will fulfill the following KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES towards the provision of patient-centered, coordinated patient care:
  • Coordinates and manages policies and procedures related to SBWC enrollment, consent, and release during school-day for SBWC visits, health education, and after hours care.
  • Provides administrative oversight and functional support of SBWC staff; directly supervises clinical support staff.
  • Develops and maintains SBWC policy and procedure manual.
  • Evaluates and monitors services and programs. Formulates policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care for clinic, outreach, and office operations ensuring compliance with federal, state, contractual, and departmental requirements. Formulates administrative controls and quality assurance policies and procedures to improve and/or monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Assesses program and community needs. Determines program, project and service objectives. Implements federal, state and local directives. Formulates standards and protocols for program services. Monitors and assesses progress toward objectives.
  • Plans, develops, monitors and controls program budgets. Monitors expenditures and revenues. Forecasts budget needs. Generates reimbursement invoicing and billings.
  • Monitors state and federal laws and regulations to ensure program compliance.
  • Maintains strong relationships with school administration, school nurse, school health related staff, and teachers as well as, CCI clinical teams and departments.
  • Provides SBWC information and/ or presentations to students, parents, and families (i.e. back to school night, report card pick-up, sports events, SBWC tours), teachers and other school staff (annual in-service, new teach orientation, tours), and at other public relations activities (health fairs).
  • Prepares monthly SBWC reports.
  • Participates in program development.
  • Represents the SBWC on task forces, planning bodies, and committees.

REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of SBWC services.
  • Ability to establish a leadership role and supervise staff.
  • Ability to shape program design, policy, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to write narrative sections for reports and grants.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and operations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in public speaking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required (may substitute 4 years of experience managing in a school or FQHC setting).
  • Minimum of two-years administrative/supervisory experience.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) proficiency.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Perform assigned task with initiative and minimal oversight from the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Proper and professional grooming is always expected.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending or working at a desk on a computer.
  • The ability to lift (up to 15lbs) is required.
  • Work under stressful conditions within a controlled enclosed environment daily. The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • ADA Category. In accordance with the American with Disabilities Act, it is possible that requirements may be modified to reasonably accommodate disabled individuals. However, no accommodation will be made which may pose serious health or safety risks to the employee or others or which impose undue hardships on the organization.

OSHA Category 1. Clinical environment. Possibility of exposure to chemicals and infectious body fluids e.g., HPV, HIV, HEP C, HSV.
