AURA has an immediate opening for a full-time Operations Manager position. The successful candidate must be located in close proximity to our Corporate office in the Chapel Hill, NC area.


Prior experience in Operations is required, and familiarity or direct experience within the defense industry is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of operations, general HR, and business processes to complement the company’s aggressive growth strategy.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Operations Manager will be adept at handling operational responsibilities and act as a support contact for all company R&D activities. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing innovative, proactive strategies to address short-term and long-term needs for operational growth.


Working within a diverse team environment that is dispersed, demanding, and fast-paced, the Operations Manager must possess exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. The successful candidate will be “quick on their feet” and able to adapt to numerous requests while maintaining composure and a high level of professionalism at all times. This position will interface with AURA’s Advanced Government Research Division and the Commercial Products Division. The Operations Manager will report to the Vice President of Operations.


Job duties may include:

  • Assisting the Vice President of Operations in tracking staffing requirements and recruiting new talent as needed.
  • Administer and collecting new hire paperwork, verifying completion of the onboarding packets and facilitating onboarding for new hires.
  • Assisting in the enforcement and development of operational and HR procedures as the company grows. This may also include special projects, system implementation, and process improvement work.
  • Conduct training within the Operations team and companywide on operational processes and procedures as needs demand, including but not limited to supervising junior operational staff or interns to fulfill expanding needs.
  • In collaboration with Executive Operations, serving as the in-house expert on Travel & Expense compliance in parallel to the external accounting firm oversight.
  • Managing procurement, asset tracking, and maintaining corresponding project budgets.
  • Serving as the front line and champion for export compliance surrounding procurement and contract deliverables in consult with the Vice President of Operations
  • Creating core company documents including NDAs, Consulting Agreements, and other corporate agreements as requested.
  • Coordinating and tracking accounts payable and receivable and report progress to Vice President of Operations.
  • Serving as the primary operational (non-security related) support at Company Headquarters to proactively meet daily demands, manage onsite projects, and filter requests to the rest of the Operations Team and the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate.
  • Owning all administrative project planning for space allocation, telecommunications, asset tagging, tracking, and expanding physical space needs.
  • Liaising with the Information Technology team to proactively plan and support implementation of companywide IT needs in consult with the Facility Security Officer.
  • Supporting the Vice President of Operations with proposal management and submission including, but not limited to team communications, proposal requirements, supporting documents, costing, etc.
  • Collaborating with the Commercial Products Division for product launches, support, sales and administrative needs.
  • Collaborating with the Marketing Division to facilitate external operational needs.
  • Assisting the Associate Director of Employee Engagement with monthly and annual employee events.
  • Other duties as necessary to support the Operations team.

WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum Years of Work Experience


5+ years of operations experience with contracts management and/or human resources (HR) experience a plus.


Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.


Minimum Technical Requirements:

  • Proven ability to establish and improve operational processes.
  • Experience recruiting and/or hiring and onboarding of employees.
  • Candidates with experience in DoD space is preferred.
  • Ability to professionally connect and effectively communicate with people of all levels.
  • Possess exceptional teamwork and multi-tasking skills; outstanding organizational & administrative skills.
  • Experience with project management and HR systems, web-based job recruiting platforms and communication systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to quickly deal with emerging problems that may involve several, independent variables.
  • Experience with Travel & Expense software is highly desirable (e.g. Concur)
  • Experience in Smartsheet preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in CRM tools is highly desirable, but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • US citizenship status is required for this position due to AURA’s contractual obligations to the US Department of Defense (DoD) requiring all employees working in performance of DoD contracts to be US citizens.
  • Ability to pass a security clearance screening.
