Job description

Department of Water Resources (DWR) is recruiting for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join its SAP Technical Operations unit as a System Administrator. The IT Specialist I joins one of the most talented and progressive IT shops in CA state government and works with a team of SAP BASIS System Administrators to support the Department's SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in a state of the art technology environment. Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Knowledge and Experience as a System Administrator in preferably SAP ERP or Linux based environment in an enterprise scale application or in a similar environment
  • Knowledge or understanding of Technical Infrastructure concepts and principles.
  • Ability to prioritize, troubleshoot, remediate technical issues related to daily operations, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivator, critical thinker, enthusiast, competent learner who can lead independently when required and work cohesively with team as an important team member.
  • Some familiarity with scripting and automation tools with a desire to learn and grow with an organization.
