About this job:
In order to have one of the first cultivated meats on the market, UPSIDE Foods will need an established record of compliance and collaboration with government regulatory bodies. However, the journey doesn't end there: UPSIDE Foods' EPIC wants to become the first cultivated meat plant to be accredited by GFSI standards. Sanitation technicians carry the responsibility of sanitation for all sites at UPSIDE Foods. Completion of tasks within the Master Sanitation Schedule, and any emergency needs within all sites. Work is primarily in a production environment with those types of hazards associated; seasonal temperature fluctuation, hot pipes, working with chemicals, slip-trip hazards, and high noise areas. All Sanitation Technicians report to the Sanitation Manager who is ultimately responsible for the EPIC Plant sanitation.
Responsibilities include:
- Drive sanitation cleaning process within EPIC Plant
- Janitorial - cleaning restrooms-toilets-sinks-walls-floors-dumping garbage-refilling toiletries
- Operating mobile foamer unit and hose. Operating mobile sanitizer unit.
- Chemical handling- Industrial -style detergents and sanitizers
- Chemical - Titrations
- CIP- perform cleaning and disinfection, validation and verification of CIP.
- Drain sanitation- Trench and other drains drains throughout the facility. There all are the responsibility of sanitation techs. Scrubbing action required.
- Use for task- follow equipment color coding policy- ForkLift training may be needed- Aerial lift training maybe needed
- Facility MSS task - race track, walkways, etc. Floors-use of the floor scrubber (walk behind)
- Receiving Dock-age cans-debris pick up
- Environmental Monitoring Program- Addressing, managing, and preventing Listeria and Salmonella within the facility
- Any, and all tasks assigned by Lead and or Sanitation Manager
About you:
- Minimum of high school diploma
- Those who have experience in Industrial sanitation work experience preferred, but not required
- General knowledge of Chemical Safety and Chemical Handling is preferred.
- Experience driving forklift is preferred but not required
- Experience driving aerial left is preferred but not required
- Self-starter who relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Demonstrates consistency, flexibility, and commitment to meet deadlines.

Who you'll work with:
- This role will work closely with sanitation manager to ensure all sanitation activities are in compliance with EPIC Food Safety Plan, Safety, GMP and other Food Safety Regulations
- This role will form close working relationships with the various teams at EPIC, including but not limited to: food safety & quality assurance, engineering, facilities, etc.
- Plant and quality management to continuously improve the program.
Physical Activities:
- Regularly reach with hands/arms, walk, and move a lot
- Frequently climb, squat, bend, kneel, sit and stand
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull 50 lbs or more
Working Conditions:
- Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 30-90 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibrations, moving machinery/electrical equipment, risk of electrical shocks, airborne particles, high places, toxic/chemicals, allergens including soy, gluten, by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
Compensation Range: $24/hr - $30/hr*
- Pay may vary depending on factors including job-related knowledge and skills.
