Title of Position: Sanitation Manager
Immediate Supervisor: Plant Manager
FLSA: Exempt
In case of Absence: Production or Food Safety Manager will assume responsibilities.
Safety and Plant Policies & Regulations
Understand and comply with Cal-Osha regulations and Company policies as they pertain to the safety of all employees.
Read, understand and acknowledge company policies as written in the Employee Handbook.
All employees are required to adhere to all Food Safety requirements and programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Defense and Allergen Programs. Food safety training will be completed a minimum of once a year.
Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise the employees that clean and sanitize all equipment and machinery in the Packing, Shelling, Sizing, Pasteurizer, Butter Line, Almond Production, Retail and Laser Departments.
Key Duties:
Must be able to work flexible hours, sometimes more than 8 hours per day or 6 days per week.
Must oversee the Sanitation team to ensure all employees are working together, working safely, working from procedure, staying on schedule and staying on task to ensure the entire plant is kept in a clean and sanitary manner at all times.
Along with Food safety, develop cleaning procedures and complete training with all personnel on procedures, modify as needed and return to Food Safety to enter into the Document Control Register.
Must be sure only properly trained employees are assigned to tasks, and set-up trainings for the employees that may need continuing education.
Must verify Sanitation Log daily and turn into Food Safety Manager for Final Record Review every other week.
Evaluate the facility and work with Management for changes to improve overall cleanliness.
Must be able to train effectively on all aspects of employee safety and food safety.
Must obtain training ability for Aerial lifts and LOTO programs.
Communicate with employees to ensure safety and compliance.
Must make recommendations to the management team to improve productivity and safety, and implement through hands on training.
Maintain inventory of current supplies.
Document and communicate employee issues with Human Resources.
Report equipment issues to Maintenance Manager.
Ensure compliance with OSHA via safety trainings and SQF via food Safety education.
Other duties as assigned.
Daily:
Must review all paperwork daily for tasks being completed correctly in a timely manner.
Must ensure completion of Pre-op for Sanitation Dept. prior to production beginning.
Must walk the entire plant continuously while on shift to ensure overall sanitation compliance.
Must verify all work done by the sanitation crew through inspection, education and testing all
equipment for sanitation standards.
Must conduct on the spot training for any issues related to sanitation, personnel safety, and food
safety.
Work with Maintenance team to understand process of departments and ensuring all equipment is
functioning properly.
Weekly:
Maintain supplies to complete all jobs related to sanitation; place orders to maintain inventory.
Meet with sanitation team to discuss team performance.
Meet with all members of team to conduct tailgate training, based on the training calendar.
Check all cleaning equipment and supplies have been delivered as expected and in good condition.
Complete any evaluation and retraining needed to ensure all staff members understand procedures and expectations related to the Sanitation Department within the Food Safety Program.
Review and calculate department expense reports.
Monthly:
Participate in facility inspection with a team of department leaders, document any findings and
address how to correct within the department and send to Food Safety Manager.
Assist as needed in the Environmental Swabbing Program/ ATP swag program.
Annually:
Train on changes made to the facility; including but not limited to, new equipment, food safety
program, personnel safety program.
Along with the Food Safety and Production Manager participate in the management review on all
programs and documents within the Food Safety Program according the Management Review
SOP between the months of June and September.
Must report any issues to management immediately for review.
