ABOUT THIS ROLE
The role of a Sanitation Plant Manager with Wawona Frozen Foods will oversee day-to-day operations and develop, implement, and continuously improve on sanitation programs, policies, and key performance indicators (KPI'S) for the organization in compliance with SQF certification 2000 system, GMP's, HACCP's, SSOPS, policies and procedures. Other duties may include staffing, scheduling, and equipment purchases/inventory.
DUTIES INCLUDE
- Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
- Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
- Follow all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
- Employee is responsible and encouraged to report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Empowered to notify and/or act in response to any issues or concerns within the scope of work.
- Maintains and optimizes SSOP's and other industry standards, principles, and methods to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all food safety policies and procedures. Ensures the plant is in proper sanitary condition at all times, including allergen and pest control.
- Audits the consistent application and execution of SSOP's and all related sanitation programs and practices.
- Responsible for completion of corrective action for all sanitation audits.
- Sets the direction for ongoing sanitation verification activities and validation testing.
- Develop continuous improvement strategies for current sanitation practices and/or programs.
- Identify training needs through employee performance evaluations, in addition to recognizing achievements.
- Directs Pest Control and Dust Control Operators to ensure compliance with all regulations (Pesticides, Clean Air act-title V, etc.)
- Actively involved in plant HACCP team.
- Inspects and evaluates facility sanitary conditions, assesses risk based on food safety and public health principles. Implements corrective actions.
- Develops all sanitation related training and ensures sanitation Supervisor implements training as needed.
- Works with Safety to ensure all safety requirements related to sanitation are met (chemical storage, MSDS, PPE's, etc.)
- Maintains and updates master cleaning schedule to meet GMP and Corporate guidelines.
- Wears all required personal protective equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree in food science, Chemistry, or a similar discipline.
- MS degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation at a supervisory level.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Certification as a Sanitarian preferred.
- Certification in Pesticide Application preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP and other Sanitation principles.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge and experience working with both COP and CIP operations.
- A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
LOCATION
- This position will work out of our Cedar or Alluvial location.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise and in cold temperatures.
- Stand and walk, feel, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally requested to sit and talk or hear.
- A fast-paced environment that requires high attention to details and minimal down time.
- Occasional lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as buckets of fruit, boxes, pails, etc. Lifting requirement: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. independently.
- Other duties as assigned requiring repetitive tasks, duties, or assignments such as sorting, packing, stacking, or cutting.
- Work flexible/varying schedules to support the team, customers, and deadlines.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and ability to see all colors.
- You will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and vibration. Exposure to cleaning products and agents for the sanitation of equipment and machinery regularly.
- Wear appropriate personal protection equipment and adhere to dress code as outlined for working in a food manufacturing facility.
